Isfara allocated 80 km to the East from Khudjand, the city with more than 400 years history, with its share of abandoned factories, golden monument of Lenin. Here you can find two astonishing mosques and a craftsman who is still using medieval techniques: the 200 years-old Hodijon mosque (Mosque of pilgrims) and the 16th century mosque built by the last khan of Shaibon dynasty. Moreover, there is 150 year-old minaret, with an iconic stork’s nest on the top.

One will be surprised to find out here the workshops (i.e. woodcarving) which are still using medieval techniques. No power tools are used, some of their tools date from the 18th century.
